SumSlide: Daily Sliding Block Puzzle
SumSlide is a free daily sliding block puzzle that combines the classic tile-sliding mechanic with number logic. Each day a new puzzle is generated with a 3x3 grid of numbered tiles and one empty space. Your goal is to slide the tiles into position so that every row and column adds up to its target sum.
If you enjoy games like Sumplete, Sudoku, or the classic 15 puzzle, SumSlide brings a fresh twist by combining sliding tile movement with arithmetic.
How to Play SumSlide
Each puzzle starts with numbered tiles arranged on a 3x3 grid. One space is empty. The target sums for each row and column are displayed along the edges of the board.
- Slide a tile by dragging it into the adjacent empty space, or use your arrow keys on desktop.
- Watch the sums update in real time as you rearrange the grid. When a row or column reaches its target, it turns green.
- Solve the puzzle when every row and column matches its target sum. Try to do it in as few moves as possible.
Daily Challenge & Free Play
Every day a new Daily Challenge is available for all players. Complete the daily puzzle and share your results with friends. Want more practice? Switch to Free Play mode for unlimited randomly generated puzzles at easy, medium, or hard difficulty.
What Makes Sliding Block Puzzles Fun?
Sliding block puzzles have been popular since Sam Loyd's 15 puzzle in the 1880s. The simple mechanic of moving tiles within a constrained grid creates deep strategic thinking. SumSlide adds a mathematical layer: you're not just trying to arrange tiles in order, you need to find the arrangement where the numbers in each row and column hit specific targets. This makes every puzzle a blend of spatial reasoning and mental arithmetic.
Tips & Strategy
- Start by identifying which row or column has the fewest possible valid arrangements, and work from there.
- Pay attention to the largest numbers first. They have the biggest impact on sums and are the most constrained.
- Think ahead. Sliding one tile always moves another, so plan sequences of moves rather than moving one tile at a time.
